This is the named variety, smooth cayenne which is know for a super high sugar content and no woody core. Pineapples are slow growing but so worth the wait. These juicy yellow fruits take about a year to grow fully, but in the meantime the plant provides a great addition to any Florida garden. Long stiff leaves spray out from the center, and when the fruit is ready it will pop up from the center of the plant.
