Cost:

$20.00 – $65.00 per person

Duration:

About this experience

Paul Kroll Jr with PK Biochar wil be teaching a biochar workshop at The Urban Harvests Homestead in St. Petersburg. Join us to learn how to easily make biochar in your backyard and on a small scale. We will discuss why biochar is one of the best soil amendment for Florida soils and the many ways it improves your permaculture systems.

Bring a 5 gallon bucket to take some of the biochar home with you ($25 value in biochar)!

This will be a hands on workshop so please tie back long hair and wear closed toed shoes. The yard is semi shaded but dress to be outdoors and bring water to stay hydrated.

We are offering this course on a sliding price scale so that everyone is able to access this resource regardless of their financial situation. The sliding scale represents the idea that monetary resources like income should not be the only determining factor in whether or not someone can access services/classes/etc. Take a look at the green bottles image in the product images to help determine where you fall on the sliding scale (image created & shared freely by Alexis J. Cunningfolk).

    • $65 is the Pay-It-Forward price. The extra money goes towards supporting scholarships as well as future free and low-cost classes. Essentially it's an opportunity to not only purchase the class but also support your fellow community members while you're at it.

    • $35 is the sacrifice price. It is for those who are able to meet their basic needs but have little-to-no expendable income. Paying for this class may qualify as a sacrifice but it would not create hardship. For those that need to purchase at this price, a payment plan is available. Conact me directly at elise.pickett@theurbanharvest.com to discuss details.

    • $20 is the hardship price. It is for those who struggle to meet basic needs and paying for this class would still be a significant hardship. This will be based on community support from the pay it forward price point. For those that need to purchase at this price, a payment plan is available. Contact me directly at elise.pickett@theurbanharvest.com to discuss details.
