    DESCRIPTION

    (H. debilis cucumerifolius) 56 days. The attractive wild sunflower is native to the Gulf Coast. Multi-branching plants grow to 6 ft., with dozens of 2-4 in. yellow flowers on long stems. Leaves are similar to cucumbers’ - a lighter green and more ragged. Drought-tolerant and vigorous keeps blooming for up to 3 months. Longest bloomer in our 2013 sunflower trials. Birds love the small seeds, choosing them over other sunflowers. A small (1 g) packet has about 190 seeds.

Good to start from seed in these months:

    North Florida: March-August

    Central Florida: February-August

    South Florida: February-April, September
