    • soups and mains
    • sweets and treats

In the heart of the Sunshine State, we've come together to create something truly special  a community-sourced cookbook celebrating the bounty of Florida. This ecookbook is a compilation of recipes not just from my own kitchen, but from gardeners across the state who wanted to share these special recipes with you. Thank you to all of the gardener chefs who contributed their recipes in order to encourage others!

Rooted in Sunshine is a labor of love, born from all of our shared passion for food, heritage, and the unique ingredients that flourish in our beautiful state.

Whether you're a seasoned chef, a backyard gardener, or simply someone who appreciates a good meal, we invite you to delve into the pages of Rooted in Sunshine with an open mind. You'll find recipes that can be crafted with love from the fruits of your own labor or sourced from local markets that thrive in our subtropical paradise. This cookbook is a tribute to the shared joys of cooking, eating, and gathering around the table.

We are offering this e-cookbook on a sliding price scale so that everyone is able to access this resource regardless of their financial situation. The sliding scale represents the idea that monetary resources like income should not be the only determining factor in whether or not someone can access services/classes/etc. Take a look at the green bottles image in the product images to help determine where you fall on the sliding scale (image created & shared freely by Alexis J. Cunningfolk).

      • $9.99 is the actual cost of the cookbook. If you choose a price below the top tier you are receiving a discount.
      • $12.99 is the Pay-It-Forward price. The extra money goes towards supporting scholarships as well as future free and low-cost cookbooks. Essentially it's an opportunity to not only purchase the book but also support your fellow community members while you're at it.
      • $6.99 is the sacrifice price. It is for those who are able to meet their basic needs but have little-to-no expendable income. Paying for this cookbook may qualify as a sacrifice but it would not create hardship.
      • $1.99 is the hardship price. It is for those who struggle to meet basic needs and paying for this cookbook would still be a significant hardship. This will be based on community support from the pay it forward price point.

Please be mindful that if you purchase a price at the lowest end of the scale when you can truthfully afford the higher ticket prices, you are limiting access to those who truly need the gift of financial flexibility.

Being honest with yourself and your financial situation when engaging with sliding scale practices grows strong and sustainable communities. It also respects the work of teachers and creators, like myself, who have families to support and bills to pay. Additionally, when I am paid fairly, I am able to invest more time and resources to free and lower cost offerings.

As you explore the recipes within these pages, we hope you're inspired, not just to cook, but to connect with your local community and to explore the incredible produce that is right in your backyard. We hope you enjoy these recipes as much as we do. Thank you for your support.
