Broomsedge bluestem is a native warm season perennial bunchgrass that grows 2 to 4 feet tall. Small birds utilize the seed in winter when other food supplies are limited. It is recommended for residential landscaping because it requires low amounts of water. In the fall, the foliage turns a reddish orange and retains this color during winter dormancy, thereby adding color to the winter landscape.
