Spring 2025 marked the 5-year anniversary of the Florida Veggie Seed Club, and I’m still feeling all kinds of grateful.
The idea for the club was born after a student at one of my gardening classes shared how they wanted even more guidance on exactly what to grow and when. They didn’t want to guess. They wanted a plug-and-play plan that actually worked for Florida’s unique climate.
That first season, we started with just 12 members. Today, we’ve grown into a community of over 800+ gardeners across the state and expanded into other states like Texas and North Carolina, all planting, learning, and growing together.
If you’ve been curious about the Florida Veggie Seed Club or just want to understand what makes it so special, this post is for you. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions I get from gardeners who are thinking about joining.
Let's dig in!
The Florida Veggie Seed Club is a quarterly subscription made specifically for Florida gardeners or those in the southern coastal region (more on that below). Whether you’re growing in a patio container in an HOA, tower gardens, or a backyard raised bed setup, we help take the guesswork out of what to grow and when.
Each shipment (delivered in September, December, March, and June) is filled with seeds selected to thrive in Florida’s unique climate, soil, and seasons. No more wasting time on varieties that bolt too soon or fizzle in the heat.
We keep things fun and practical with a mix of tried-and-true favorites and lesser-known varieties you may not find at the grocery store. (Don’t worry, we share recipes and prep tips too!)
You can choose from three subscription options depending on your space and budget:
Pay quarterly or save by purchasing all four shipments up front, your choice!
Whether you’re just starting out or simply starting over in Florida’s wild gardening climate, the Seed Club was made for you.
It’s a great fit for:
After 5+ years of serving Florida gardeners, we’ve seen firsthand how this club supports all kinds of growers, especially those who want to learn, stay consistent, and grow with confidence in our unique climate.
We have had several members over the years now who have vouched for great success using our varieties and adjusting the planting season according to their area and local guidance. To be clear, I do not have personal experience growing in Alabama or South Carolina, for example (though I do grow a bit in Kentucky), but we do have members growing in those states who, with a bit of tweaking, have been very happy with the results.
No matter which size you choose, Micro, Small, or Large, all Seed Club members receive a quarterly shipment of Florida-friendly, organic, open-pollinated, heirloom seeds carefully selected to grow well in our unique climate.
What’s in the box?
Small & Large Seed Club:
Each seasonal shipment includes 9 different plant varieties, a mix of vegetables, leafy greens, herbs, and flowers.
➕ Small and Large Club members receive nearly identical seed selections, though Small Club may occasionally include compact/container-friendly varieties better suited for patio or small-space gardening.
➕ The main difference between Small and Large? Quantity- the Large Club includes more seeds per variety for those growing bigger spaces or looking to share.
Micro Seed Club:
Perfect for gardeners with less space or those easing into the planting season. Each quarterly shipment includes 3 curated plant varieties, still focused on success in Florida’s unique climate.
This option was created directly from member feedback for those who love the concept but don’t have the room (or budget) for 9 varieties at a time.
In addition to seeds, all members get:
The Small Seed Club costs $39.00 per quarterly shipment, and the Large Seed Club costs $49.00 per quarterly shipment. If you sign up for one year/ 4 shipments and prepay at the time of purchase, you can save $10 off your purchase. Your first payment will be charged at the time of subscribing, then on the 1st of every subsequent shipment month's quarter. The Micro Seed Club is $20.00 per quarterly shipment.
The Florida Veggie Seed Club subscriptions are open four times a year, starting one month prior to the quarterly shipment. For example, for the June shipment, the subscription window is open from May 1- May 31st. If you want to subscribe during a month that subscriptions are not open, we recommend filling out the pop-up to join the waitlist, and you’ll receive an email once doors reopen.

This will vary depending on a few factors, like the availability/rarity of the variety, as well as germination rate and how many of the plants we have planned. We typically send twice the number of seeds that are needed to plant, based on our example garden plan. I.e, if there are 2 eggplants in the small garden plan, we will send 4 seeds. If, on the other hand, it is something that gets planted densely or succession planted like lettuce seed, you'll receive several hundred seeds.
Nope, no need to resubscribe each month. It will charge your card on file on the 1st of every quarter’s month.
Once the subscription window closes at the end of the month prior, we then process all of the seed club subscriptions at once. All boxes are carefully packed by hand and then shipped out. Depending on where you are located in the state, you can plan to expect to receive your shipment around the 15th.
You cancel your subscription through the “My Account” section of the website. You have full control over your account at all times so you can change details, pause, or cancel at any time.
You can always pause your subscription through the “My Account” section of the website if you’re in a busy season of life or will be traveling, then can resume your subscription when you’re ready again.
At this time, we are unable to include add-ons in our Seed Club subscription boxes. But you can place an order with seeds at the time of purchase for the club, and we will ship the other seeds out to you as soon as the order is received. The subscription box will come afterwards at the scheduled time.
Typically, Seed Club shipments are received on or around the 15th of the month, but sometimes things can be held up. Once the package is handed off to USPS, we don’t have any more information on our end than you do. We've experienced members getting the package in their mailbox when their online system says they are still awaiting the package. We recommend being patient and giving it a few more days. If you still haven’t received it by the 20th, feel free to reach out to us.
The subscription sizes are all relative, and there are likely more than one that would fit your garden or needs. If you aren’t sure you are going to like this concept, are just starting out, and don’t know if you’ll actually enjoy gardening, have very limited growing space (like just a couple pots), then the micro may be the best fit.
The small garden is great for anyone growing in a vertical garden or single raised bed, as well as for those who want to gain exposure to our varieties/community/etc, but already have some tried and true favorites that you like to plant each year. The small garden would allow you to try a handful of new things while still leaving you enough room for your own selections.
The large garden is great for those who are looking to fill a substantial amount of space, like 3-4 (or more) raised beds, or are working towards a homestead and would like to have excess to put away.
Remember that you can easily adjust the size of your subscription within your account settings for each shipment so that you can find what works best for you and your garden.

A gift card is the easiest way to gift this to a friend or family member. You can purchase whichever dollar amount you think they would enjoy or that you would like to spend, and then they will take it from there.
This will allow them to sign up under their own email, so that they will be able to easily access the online community on their own, and all of the email content that we send out will go directly to them.
You could include a printout of the Seed Club product description so they know exactly what the gift includes. It’s a nice way to give them something tangible to "open".
Another idea is to pair the gift card with a few gardening supplies, either by grabbing a few seed packs or ordering from my recommended gardening equipment page. It adds a thoughtful touch and makes the gift feel even more complete.
Whether you're just getting started or you're a seasoned gardener looking to simplify and thrive in Florida's unique climate, there's a place for you in the Florida Veggie Seed Club.
I hope this post helped answer your questions and gave you a clearer idea of what we’re all about. If you’re ready to join us (or rejoin us!), the next shipment is right around the corner, and now’s the perfect time to jump in.
