Solanum lycopersicum. Developed as a classic 1930s commercial heirloom of the Southeastern US, Florida Special Tomato is a highly productive, indeterminate variety well-suited for hot and humid growing conditions. Maturing in about 85 days, the vines naturally resist blight while yielding good amounts of 8 to 9 ounce, oblate red slicing tomatoes. The fruits feature a smooth, balanced flavor of sweetness and acidity, paired with a soft, meaty texture and rosy-red gel that makes them delightful for eating fresh off the vine.
