Solanum lycopersicum Bred at the University of Hawaii , Kewalo Tomato is a high-yielding, open-pollinated determinate variety maturing in about 78 days. It produces 6 to 8 ounce, round red tomatoes with a wonderfully sweet flavor that are perfect for slicing, salads, and sandwiches.
Uniquely adapted for hot, humid, and tropical climates, Kewalo stands out as one of the few open-pollinated types resistant to bacterial wilt, mosaic virus, and nematodes. Its compact growth habit also makes it an excellent candidate for container gardening, patio setups, and smaller garden spaces.
