Also known as gandules. Short-lived (2-4 year) small tree or shrub. Edible beans from pretty yellow flowers which blooms and produces over winter. Nitrogen fixer, I like to interplant these into food forests especially with young fruit trees so they can be sheltered by the quick growth and then as the fruit tree gets bigger the pigeon pea is dying out. Treat as any other dry cooking bean. Makes a delicious beans and rice.
